Siddhartha was born in
Lumbini in 623 B.C.
His mother was Queen Maya.
This day, more than 2560 years ago in the year 623 B.C. on a Wesak
Full Moon Day, the future Buddha-To-Be was born
at Lumbini as Prince Siddhartha.
这一天，距今 2560 多年前，即公元前 623 年。 在卫塞节满月日，
未来的佛陀以悉达多太子的身份在蓝毗尼诞生。
悉达多于公元前 623 年
出生于蓝毗尼。
他的母亲是玛雅王后。

According to some Buddhist records, soon after His birth, He is
said to have stepped over seven lotus flowers. Thereupon the little
child had exclaimed,
“I am the Chief in the world, There is no equal to me, I am
Supreme; this is my last birth; No more rebirth for me.”
根据一些佛教记载，据说他出生后不久就踩过七朵莲花。
这时小孩子惊呼，“我是天下之首，无人能敌，我至尊；

Receiving an excellent education, Siddhartha
married Yasodhara at the age of sixteen. They
had a son named Rahula.

In his twenty-ninth year, realizing the fleeting and unsatisfactory nature of
life, he resolved to leave his palace in search of peace and Truth. His departure
from home was an unprecedented case of historic renunciation born out of
compassion for the suffering of all beings in Samsara.

For 6 long years Siddhartha practiced asceticism.

Passing through a long and arduous course of
mental training, he made a superhuman struggle
for six strenuous years.

One glorious day, seated under the Bodhi Tree
at Bodhgaya, he vowed not to stir from his seat
until he attained Supreme Buddhahood.

The Bodhisattva attained Enlightenment
under the Bodhi Tree at Bodhgaya, India.

On a Happy Wesak Full Moon Day, six years after his
Great Renunciation, He obtained perfect Enlightenment.
He was 35 years of age.
在他大出家六年后的卫塞节快乐满月日，他获得了圆满的觉悟。

For 45 years, the Buddha expounded the Dhamma
with utmost dedication and diligence born out of love
and compassion for all beings.
45年来，佛陀以对众生的爱与悲心，
以最大的奉献和精进来开示佛法。

The Buddha Preached The First Sermon to the first 5 Disciples.
He taught The Four Noble Truths –
* The Noble Truth of Dukkha or Suffering * The Cause of Dukkha
* The Cessation of Dukkha * The Noble Eightfold Path leading to the
Cessation of Dukkha
佛陀对前五位弟子讲道。 他教导四圣谛 –
* 苦或苦圣谛 * 苦因 * 苦灭 * 导致苦灭的八圣道

The Buddha served with compassion.
佛陀以慈悲服务。
With compassion and wisdom, the Buddha diligently
worked for the good and happiness of Mankind
until His dying moment.
佛陀以慈悲与智慧，为人类的善与乐而努力工作，直至临终。

At His final hour of death,
He calmly addressed His disciples :
“ Ripe is My age, short is My life, leaving you
I shall go. I have made Myself My Refuge.
Be diligent, mindful, and extremely virtuous.
在他死亡的最后时刻，他平静地对他的门徒说：“成熟是我
的年龄，我的生命是短暂的，离开你我会走。 我已使自己成
为我的避难所。 要勤奋、正念、非常有德行。

The Buddha Passed Away at 80 Years Old.
佛陀80岁圆寂。
With thoughts collected, guard your mind.
In this Doctrine and Discipline, by living righteously and mindfully,
you will escape the cycle of rebirth and put an end to suffering.
Think not that you have no Teacher after my Death. Regard the
Dhamma and Vinaya I have taught you as your Teacher.
收起思绪，守护你的心。 在这个教义和纪律中，通过正念和正念的生活，
你将摆脱轮回，结束痛苦。 不要以为我死后你没有老师。
把我教给你的法和律当作你的老师。

He who practices My Teaching best serves Me most.
He who sees the Dhamma sees Me.
Transient are all component things ; strive on with diligence .”

Thus having successfully completed this Noble Mission, in His 80th year, at
Kusinara, the Supreme Buddha,
our Great Teacher, passed into Parinibbana.
It was on a Full Moon Day, more than 2560 years ago.
就这样圆满地完成了这个崇高的使命，在他八十岁的时候，我们的伟大
导师至尊佛陀，在Kusinara，进入了涅槃。
那是 2560 多年前的一个满月日。

Brothers and Sisters in the Dhamma, on this Wesak Day, which commemorates the
Birth of Siddhatta Gautama, His Enlightenment and His passing away into
Parinibbana, let us reflect on our Dhamma practice as good Buddhists.
佛法中的兄弟姐妹们，在这个纪念乔达摩诞生、开悟和涅槃的卫塞节，
让我们作为优秀的佛教徒反思我们的佛法修行。

In Anguttara Nikaya the Buddha said :
We are all subject to ageing. We are all subject to
sickness. We are all subject to death.
There will be change and separation from all
that we hold dear and near to us.
佛陀在 Anguttara Nikaya 中说：我们都受到衰老的影响。
我们都容易生病。 我们都受制于死亡。
我们所珍视和亲近的一切都会发生变化和分离。

We are the owners of our Kamma or actions, heir of our actions. We are born of
our actions. We are related to our actions and we have our actions as refuge.
Whatever we do, good or evil, of that, we will be the heir.
Reflecting on the above 5 things, brothers and sisters in the Dhamma, let
us resolve to practice the Dhamma well to be free from the Dukkha of Samsara.
我们是我们业力或行为的拥有者，我们行为的继承人。 我们
生于我们的行动。 我们与我们的行为有关，我们有我们的行
为作为避难所。 无论我们做什么，无论是好是坏，我们都将
成为继承人。反思以上五件事，佛法中的弟兄姊妹，让我们下
定决心好好修行佛法，以解脱轮回的苦。

Brothers and Sisters in the Dhamma, as good Buddhists, we must practice diligently
the following:
* Take Refuge in The Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha
* Practice Dana or Giving and Serving selflessly the needy
* Keep the Precepts of No Killing, No Stealing, No Sexual Misconduct, No Lying and
No Intoxicants
* Learn, understand and contemplate on the Dhamma constantly.
* Meditate consistently : Metta Bhavana (Meditation on Loving-kindness), Tranquility
and Insight Meditation
* Practice Sense Restraint and Mindfulness of Mind and Body.
修行的弟兄姊妹，作为好的佛教徒，我们必须精进修行： * 皈依佛法僧 * 修行布施或
无私地布施和服务有需要的人 * 持守不杀生、不偷盗、不杀生的戒律 性不端，不说
谎，不醉酒 * 不断地学习、理解和思考佛法。 * 持续冥想：Metta Bhavana（慈悲冥
想）、宁静和内观冥想 * 练习感官克制和身心正念。

When we, as good Buddhists practice the Dhamma well, we’ll grow in
our Compassion and Wisdom. We will then have greater peace,
harmony and understanding within ourselves and with all other people.
当我们作为优秀的佛教徒好好修持佛法时，我们的慈悲和智慧就会增长。
然后，我们将在自己内部以及与所有其他人之间拥有更大的和平、和谐与理解。
