Ion I. Nistor was a Bucovina Unionist historian and militant who was a member of the committee that organized the National Assembly in Cernăuţi, where they decided to join Romania. He drafted the "Union Act". Nistor was a professor at the Universities of Vienna and Cernăuţi and Rector of the University of Cernăuţi. He later became a University Professor in Bucharest and a Member of the Romanian Academy. Nistor held several minister positions in the Romanian government representing Bukovina.
