The ever increasing
Divide
Coincidently the whole world will unite on the
definition of a sustainable business model… But
when it comes to practice even the best forget the
core principals…..
Let me start with a question to all of you and it has
been with me for years…Why human beings
moved to do “Business “ in the first place… Was
that for profit ? No…Was that for people or society
solely ?...No Was that for the reason to make the
third element “ The World”.. Coincidently this is the
meaning of my Name “Nikhil”…a better place to
live… Hmm…May be…it was done to make living
more comfortably….Sooner we got it organized in
different forms,types,techniques,tricks,tips and
what not. And here we are…standing on our own
center of gravity thinking what the fuss about ?...
Move to the today’s world and if you
ask the same question again… Hey Mr. CEO why
we are doing business… the answer will mostly
circle around..$ , Profit, ROI, RONA,ROCA..all
kinds of Rox….I wholeheartedly second this
definition. Nothing wrong in it… The only issue is in
the way We consider what is an asset and what is
a liability?
Coming back to my point on the way we classify an
asset or liability…. Many organizations will say with
great passion that people are our most valuable
assets…and yet when it comes to practice, the
most valuable assets are the first one to be termed
a liability. Is this a Good Sign…? Is this the way to
operate a sustainable business model…? These
are some basic questions which all of us will have
time and again and yet we all yes including me will
forget and say how does it impact me… It is not me
they are laying off … it is they… who are they..?
They ..your colleugues,part of society who do as
much as you do in terms of contributing towards
making our world a better place to live… Yet they
without their jobs will not be in a position to
contribute…..and with increase in layoffs the
population of they will increase… they will demand
their rights… Key take away from this is “ To put all
your brains in checking the possibilities where you
can utilize an employee before pressing the exit
button… What are these possibilities…I will tell you

Aftermath of “Running a sustainable
business model” in its existing form
has a catastrophic effect in
increasing the divide between the
people and the profit…
Somewhere something has to be
done…. What can be done…Any
ideas..?
