• 500 years ago the Spanish Conquistadors
traveled to the Amazon in pursuit of Gold and
Silver.
• They traveled from the Pacific to find a
legendary city named El Dorado
• No treasures were ever found, but long lived
stories of amazing, cities, villages and towns
deep in the jungle.
3. Lt. Colonel Percey Fawcett
• Lieutenant Fawcett was apart of a elite society
called the Royal Geographic Society.
• Newspaper readers all over the world followed
his work.
• Some called him the real life Indiana Jones
• He began his quest in 1906 to the Amazon and
mysteriously disappeared in 1925.
• The last decedents to see him alive were known
as the Kuikuro Tribe.
4. Marajo
• Marajo is an island located at the mouth of the
Amazon.
• Man made hills were built for heavy flooding and
also burial sites.
• Historical artifacts such as Potsherds were found
on this island and indicated when pieced
together, that 500 years ago a settled society was
living in the Amazon.
• These beautiful Ceramic Pots were made for
secondary burial.
