#NoDAPL
• The $3.7bil DAPL will travel 1,172 miles from ND to Chicago.
• The Standing Rock Sioux has been suing/protesting for months.
• The issue centers on something called "tribal sovereignty."
• US law says tribes must be consulted when gov't use their land.
• Pipeline goes through Sioux burial sites NEAR their reservation.
• Pipeline also travels under the Sioux's water supply.
• DAPL says it's their land. Sioux say they never sold the land.
• Hundreds of protesters were arrested trying to stop DAPL.
• Protesters say they've been abused by excessive police force.
• Gov't stopped issuing construction permits so DAPL is in limbo.
