1. The Lewinsky Scandal
Flashback Friday NFNews Feather
Bill Clinton took office as President in January, 1993.
In ‘97, Paula Jones sued Clinton for sexual harassment.
During this trial Clinton was asked about Monica
Lewinsky and he denied sexual relations with her.
Lewinsky was hired at the White House in 1995.
She told her friend, Linda Tripp, about her personal
relationship with Clinton.
Tripp secretly recorded these conversations.
Tripp gave the tapes to Ken Starr, who was leading an
independent investigation into Clinton for other things.
Based on the tapes and Clinton’s testimony in the Jones
case, Starr concluded Clinton had perjured himself.
It was on this basis that Clinton was impeached in the
House. He was later acquitted in the Senate.
