1781. I´m in El
Socorro a small town from Santander. We are at the Street market and people came here to
express their needs….
PEOPLE: LONG LIVE THE KING… DOWN WITH THE BAD GOVERNMENT. WE WANT JUSTICE … WE
WANT PEACE… WE WANT A BETTER LIFE!!!! WE WANT NO MORE TAXES. !!!!! WE WON´T PAY

us what do people from Santander want from the Spanish government?
Mr. JAG: As you can see our main problem is that the Spanish government is creating new laws
and new taxes to increase their benefits… they forget to think about us.
EDUARDO: O.K. Mr. JAG, tell us … what do these people want???
MR. JAG. We don´t want to pay more taxes and we also want to participate in the government…..

because they have a new army, The Barlovento Army. … Now Spaniards expect that we pay for
this army. ATTENTION everybody… If we pay more taxes we won´t have money to feed our
families!!!! LOOK WHAT I DO WITH THIS EDICT!!!! ( She tears it off) We won´t pay for the

 In the north coast there are lots of clouds… so it will definitely rain during the weekend.
 In the south it will be windy and hot.
 In the east … there is too….. much humidity… so I think it will probably rain during the
weekend.
 Finally in the west … more exactly, on the pacific coast there is too much wind … so I
think it might be windy and cool.
