It is certified and compliant with the EPA and CARB 2010 emissions regulations at 0.2 gm/bhp-hr NOx , the first engine in the medium duty range to do so . Heavy duty natural gas vehicles also offer a Greenhouse Gas emissions benefit on a well to wheel basis. In Transit and Refuse applications, where fuel usage is high and natural gas fuel costs are low, the improved efficiency and reliability of the ISL G can provide Lower Life Cycle costs . And the use of domestic natural gas contributes to Energy Security by reducing dependence on foreign oil supplies. Natural gas has historically cost less than diesel and the ability to lock in infrastructure and a fixed fuel cost can lower fuel cost with natural gas.
