Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation (BSEC), a large state-owned conglomerate, is projecting negative growth for the current fiscal year 2015-2016. BSEC comprises 8 manufacturing units and contributed Tk. 9805.19 lakh to the national exchequer from July to December 2015, achieving 72% of its production target but realizing 27% less revenue than the previous fiscal year. With a 9% negative production rate, BSEC's accumulated sales volume was Tk. 24539.18 lakh, lower than the Tk. 27097.65 lakh accumulated in the previous year.
