SAFETY OFFICER
Noteworthy Initiative
 To comply with safety laws, norms and standards.
 To coordinate and motivate about the safety education and training programme among workers.
 To comply daily tool box talk and formulate the suitable safety policies and programs.
 To inspect supervision and investigate all new construction, new procedure and installation of new
equipments in the light of safety point of view.
 To take new employees safety orientation.
 To ensure that personal protective equipments (PPE) are in good condition and promptly inculcate the
spirit of safety among workers by educating safety campaign in the form of observing safety weeks and to
conduct seminars.
 Welding : inspection of tools and equipments to be used in welding process and to check for
sufficient ventilation and exhaust fans for extraction of fumes.
 House Keeping :
a) To check all stairways, passageways and gangways kept free from materials and any obstruction.
b) To check and suggest recommended values of illumination and limiting value of glare index in different
area of the industry.
 Material Handling :
a) To check safe working load of loop type sling and chain sling in various position, inspection of wire rope
wear and damage.
b) To inspect and prepare check list of hoist and different types of cranes.
 Confined space : to check entry permit strictly before entering confined space and provide adequate
light, ventilation and buddy system.
 To approve : (a) work to be done (b) procedure to be followed (c) equipment to used (d)
precaution to be observe (e) workers qualification (f) tank or confined space preparation.
 Fire fighting planning : to inspect fire fighting equipments and to see that they are in working
condition or not.
 To arrange mock fire fighting drills from time to time in addition to fire protection surveys.
 To keep in red lines fire fighting squads, medical support and first aid help for the personnel during shut
down job.
 Heat stress : control measures
 Administrative controls used to reduce heat stress:-
a) Reduce physical demands of work.
b) Provide recovery areas (air conditioned enclosure).
c) Used shift, used intermittent rest period with water breaks.
d) Used relief workers, used workers pacing.
 To check and provide personnel protective equipment (PPE)
a) Reflective clothing.
b) Wetted clothing.
c) Water cooled garment.
