Agree: Alla, Marcia, Velimira, Pavla, Nevena and
Galiya
 only for university students (English teachers-
to-be)
 learners whose mother tongue is very different
from the foreign language they are learning
 pronunciation needs more attention and there is
not enough time in the ordinary lessons,
 beginner learners need a couple of
pronunciation lessons
Disagree: Alla, Sherzod, Marcia,Yana, Michaela,
Gulia, Viktoria, Elizabeth, Mario, Gergana
 Students can learn pronunciation through
speaking, listening or other activities, which can
prove more productive,
 if teacher uses English regularly in class,
 such lessons can be boring,
 in real-life situations everything is
interconnected, and the teaching situation should
reflect this
 Pronunciation should be taught in context
Unanimously, Alla, Sherzod, Marcia, Yana,
Michaela, Velimira, Pavla, Nevena, Gulia,
Viktoria, Elizabeth, Mario, Gergana, Galiya
all disagreed with this statement for the following
reasons:
 acquiring proper pronunciation is much harder
than stress and rhythm,
 correct pronunciation and stress and rhythm are
equally important for proper understanding, so
combining them would be ideal,
 the meaning of some words depend on the
position of stress
Unanimously agreed: Sherzod, Alla, Yana, Marcia
Michaela, Velimira, Pavla, Nevena, Gulia, Viktoria,
Elizabeth, Mario, Gergana, Galiya
 teachers must know it to help learners with
pronunciation, present information and teach lessons
better,
 practice is more important than terminology, but it
can also be helpful for learners if they know simple
terms such as "phonetic script", "vowel", "consonant",
“syllable”etc.
 can help them to learn autonomously and use
different teaching resources like grammar books,
websites.
 Unanimously disagreed:
 some students can have better pronunciation
than others or even the teacher and they can
help, just that the teacher must make sure
that the correct pronunciation is learnt,
 learners at advanced levels can be more
successful at learning from each other,
 other resources can be used to learn
pronunciation
