Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested an assistant commissioner with the Food and Drugs
Control Administration (FDCA), Vasant Shah, and drug inspector Mahesh Bakshi on
charges of corruption here on Friday.
The arrest followed a complaint filed by a Satellite-based pharmaceutical wholesaler,
Ashok Patel. In his complaint, Patel had accused the duo of demanding a bribe of Rs
8,000 for issuing a medical shop licence in his name.
The ACB laid a trap by using Patel as a decoy. “Shah and Bakshi were arrested when
they were accepting the bribe money from Patel. They have been booked under the
Prevention of Corruption Act,” said ACB Inspector R L Solanki.
