2. I’m going to start this story by saying something
about myself and where I work. I think it is
significant that I, the story-teller, present myself for
the simple reason that I, together with the choices I
made will help in how the story is told, I am an
active agent in the story itself.
My name is Marva Furlongue-Laver, I am an

THE IMPLEMENTATION OF
THE MODEL
DEVELOPMENT OF THE SERVICE
(The Beginning)-
Reflection evoked the following Thoughts:-
How was the decision made methodology of
intervention
Was there consultation with academia to
provide guidance/advice as to the efficacy
of the chosen method
5
6. DEVELOPMENT OF THE SERVICE (The
Beginning)-
The need for a model of fidelity and
a way to monitor compliance to the
delivery of the model
What evaluative tools we will need
to measure our implementation/use
of the model and the effectiveness
of our approach.

7. DEVELOPMENT OF THE SERVICE (The

Inclusion of families in all aspect of
decision making

8. DEVELOPMENT OF THE SERVICE (The
Beginning)-
Important Ethos:
A golden thread being fed through from
the highest level in the organisation to
the lowest rung
Grow the knowledge/expertise

9. DEVELOPMENT OF THE SERVICE (The
Implementation)-
The incorporation of different
Methodology/model
The need for documentation skills that
are Solution oriented/focus

shift in the family's perception of
themselves

10. DEVELOPMENT OF THE SERVICE (The

The need for an instrument /methodology
to help teams/practitioner:-

changes on the family functioning
effectiveness of their intervention and a
guide for further improvement

research input is needed from the inception to identify the evidence base for using this approach with this population
Links with academia to provide guidance/advice as to the efficacy of the chosen method
respectful involvement of families early in the process - family engagement is critical as it develops trust and inspires family to work effectively with workers
If not why may be (insecurities of professional to release and balance of power)
to ensures the fidelity to the intervention and consistency in all level i.e. consultation, supervision /leadership, meetings and case discussions
during the initial development of the workforce / practitioner leads to confusion when working with families
The use of S.F. when implemented:- practitioners are able to notice a shift in the family's perception of themselves which leads to them being empowered and making decision to move closer towards their preferred future
Tools for collecting information/data A reporting mechanism that is solution oriented
Tools that support their decision making
to inform the practitioner's work with the family
Key is also the practitioners belief/expectation in reference to the efficacy of the model
During initial staff development activities, workers need to be presented with background of the evolution of Solution Focus the theoretical framework from which it evolves, the similarities to other theoretical principles
It is important that the practitioner through S,F. Reflective supervision explore, examine and own any hidden message about the method, it's effectiveness and their expectation about the family's ability to achieve their "preferred" futures
How well the workers take the skills that they have learned and apply it to supporting their families
How flexible are the workers and their ability to change and work with families
Changing workers language
In order to be effective practitioners who utilize solution-focused theory should have a command of essential components and principles that underlie the theory
to expand the knowledge base about Solution Focus through rigorous evaluations and research; and
to create centralized information systems on existing services and supports for practitioners using the model
Development of a Road Map for work for the practitioner, yet remaining fidel to the Solution Focus Therapy model
Workers continued growth as Solution Oriented practitioners and leaders will result in the consistent delivery of the service and create powerful outcomes for our families
Shrinking in the resources needed to support family supports the continuation of solution oriented practice to reduce families dependency on support from government
The evolution of a service with an established identity
Strong team building through the process
Great team building is recognizing that all good solutions have one thing in common they are obvious in hind sight
