Medical Status Examination or MSE
This is used by the clinician to evaluate if there is an urgent requisite to apply psychiatric
intervention. A mental health professional initially use his social skills, clinical experiences, eyes
and ears to assess the person’s state and level of impairment. There is also this part where the
clinician will check how the person dress himself, eye contact, tone of voice, judgment,
orientation and thinking pattern. Professionals perform this to conclude if the person is having
suicidal, homicidal or psychosis.
