Please find 3-5 mnemonic methods, rules, techniques or exercises which may be practical
and useful in education:

Presentation of the results of the second round: Identification of mnemonic methods,
rules, techniques or exercises which maybe useful in education

2nd step: Please evaluate the chosen method/rule/technique/exercise to determine whether it is
useful in education in general and/or in relation to particular subject areas.
Please answer the following questions (regarding each method,...)
Did you try this method yourself?
If yes, in which situation?

Did you have any difficulties in using
this method?

Do you have another evidence of
using this method/... (like
information from other people,
Internet, literature) please describe

no □

yes X
as a learner, X a teacher X
during a learning □ or teaching □ process
other situation □:
.................................................

Like for the acronyms it is useful to remember things
that we have already fixed and that we have
temporary forgotten. Sometimes they are on the tip
of the toungue so just the initial can be a good help.
Other people X Internet □ literature □
This method is often used with funny purposed to
make fun of certain names and institutions:
Alitalia (the official Italian air company)
Always Late In Take-off Always Late In Arrival
Also the Italian students of Memory XL tried to
create funny acrostics about our project:
- the countries involved in the project: Italy, Hungary,
Germany, Poland, Greece, United Kingdom.
I hate unknown people giving gifts. (by Carla)
Google platform is generally useful help. (by Enzo)
God gave us hope in Paradise. (by Rossella)
- the initials of the coordinators of the different teams
(it was a very difficult one!!!): Maria, Xenia, Beatrix,
Gyongyi, Manuela, Andrea, Keith, Peter, Claudia.
My x-boyfriend gave me a kind precious cheque.

What kind of success was
experienced by using this method/...
Is this method – in your (or others )
opinion – useful in general
education ? Please describe.
Is this method – in your (or others )
opinion – useful in specific subjects?
In which one?

Other remarks you would like to add:

Thank you very much !

Very successful to remember lists of words we
already know.
It is usually used since primary schools with great
success in education
ATRONOMY: My very excellent mother just served
us nine pizzas: the planet of the Solar System
(Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn,
Uranus; Neptune, Pluto). In Italian language we have:
Mai vedere tua madre giocare sotto un noce (= never
see your mum plaing under a nut tree).
BIOLOGY: Richard of York gave battle in vain: the
colours of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green,
blue, indigo, violet)
GEOGRAPHY: Can Queen Victoria eat cold apple
pie?: the Seven Hills of Rome (Capitoline, Quirinal,
Viminal, Esquilin, Caelian, Aventine, Palatine)
HISTORY: Divorced, Beheaded, Died, Divorced,
Beheaded, Survived: the destiny of Henry VIII’s
wives.
No plan like yours to study history wisely: the
British Royal Houses (Norman, Plantagenet,
Lancaster, York, Tudor, Stuart, Hanover, Windsor)
We don’t recommend this method to remember
immediate things that we need to remember urgently
because it may take a while to crate the acrostics. We
have tried to create an acrostics for these things to do:
Milk, Watch to be repaired, Icecream with my niece,
Airplane tickets for my holiday, Mum’s birthday,
Bills, Injection to my neighbour, Dog to the vet, Car
to the mechanic): “My wife is a man but I don’t
care!” It’s a nice funny acrostic, but it took us 50
minutes to create it!
