Basketball Championship 2014
organised by Woman’s Era
reached it’s final step. The
unforgettable journey ended
with the most exciting and
thrilling match of the season.
The essence of the two day
journey will remain in everyone’s heart
for the years to come.

he two-day tournament whichstarted with a bang reached its finalstage. The second and final day ofthe tournament started with a lovelyand pleasant weather where twowinners’ teams entered the finals afterwinning the semi-finals, Modern SchoolBarakhamba Road and Sanskriti School.

E
ight eminent high schools of Delhi
and NCR were invited to Modern
School, Barakhamba Road to
compete in a basketball championship
organised by Woman’s Era. The two-
day championship which was held on
13th and 14th October 2014 on the
courts of Modern School turned out to
be a huge success from all perspectives.

he last level proved to be the best
match of the season as the
competition was between the best
teams of the tournament. An enthralling
match was expected, but the final result
was more than what was expected.
Sanskriti team gave a tough fight to
their opponent Modern School, but
Modern team chased the target
comfortably to be crowned as the 2014
Champions with the score 26/19.
The Incredible Performance
F
inally the moment arrived when
both the finalists were all set to
compete for the winner’s cup. The
Finale match of the season was played
between Modern School and Sanskriti
School. Everyone was excited to see
who takes the winning cup with them.

P
articipating players from ModernSchool were: Malvika Aneja, ShivikaVikram, Rhea Gupta, ShatakshiVikram, Anoushka Gupta, MadhuKumari, Shivani Mehta, Gresshaa Mehta,Kashni Sail and Pretika Rawal, led bythe captain Ananya Khanna under theguidance of Coach Rajesh Kumar.Participating players from the opposingSanskriti School, Delhi team were:Bhavya, Sunardini, Monica, Aishwarya,Alice, Yamini, Ojal, Sheoli, Sanjana andMehak with Captain Kritica Bahl andunder the guidance of coach MahmoodAlam and assistant coach Susan Chand.

matches presented the winner
team and the runners up team with
trophies and certificates.
Appreciating the Talent
I
n the end vote of thanks was
proposed to the referees and time
keepers Sunil Kumar, Mahender
Singh, Pradeep Kumar, Gajender Singh,
Satwinder singh and Khushwinder Singh
from basketball federation who made
sure of proper discipline during the
matches. Woman’s Era’s initiative to
encourage the girls’ sport in India
ended successfully with the hope to
come back next year with more teams,
