Letters of Transmission for Portfolios




Identify some of the Portfolio's submissions by title and explains the writer's reasoning behind
selecting and ordering those submissions.

Demonstrate sustained writing self-awareness: provide evidence of the writer's ability to be reflective
about her/his own strengths and weaknesses and awareness of such.

Make specific claims about strengths and weaknesses and point to specific examples from the portfolio
submissions that support the writer's assertions.

Demonstrate an awareness of what the writer has learned or come to understand about themselves.

Avoid extensive summary, provide instead an analysis of some of the information contained in the
portfolio.

The letter should be formatted like a standard business letter
