organisms should be most effective ,
least toxic & narrowest spectrum agent
available.
Reserve the newer antibiotics.
Prefer oral therapy over parentral
therapy.
Combination therapy should only be use
when indicated.

Define the patient’s problem
Selection of drug according to therapeutic
need.
Consider the alternatives
Choose a suitable dose, alternate if required
Avoid using more than one drug of the same
chemical class at the same time
Inform the patient
Monitor the effects of treatment
Identify the reason for failure of treatment
Continue treatment only if the original
therapeutic objective is still relevant 5

Warfarine
Alcohol- Metronidazole , Tinidazole
Milk product- Tetracycline
Pregnancy
Complete the course as prescribed.
