2. For my front
cover:
Date: 23/2/14.
Equipment: Nikon d3000
Camera.
Location: Muddy field.
Main Model: Laura Mason.
Costume: plain white dress, blue
denim jacket, gold statement
chain necklace, black chunky
boots.
Makeup: dramatic, dark eye-
makeup – winged eyeliner.
Hair: Straight with texture –
loose.
I chose this date because the weather
forecast had said it would be sunny
and I wanted a bright setting with good
light for my photos.
I chose this location
because I was inspired by
the NME cover featuring
Mumford and Sons. They
use a field setting and I
like how this creates a
natural feel to the image.
Also, this location was
easy to get hold of.
I chose this model because I was
inspired by the image of Ellie
Goulding (used in my mock-up).
Therefore, I wanted a blonde
model with fair skin.
I chose this costume because I wanted
my model to wear plain colours with a
colour scheme of black, white, blue and
gold. I wanted my model to wear a denim
jacket because I was inspired by a photo
of MIA on NME’s cover.
I chose this particular hair and makeup look
because I was inspired by an image of Lily
Allen on the cover of NME. I like the way it
gives a ‘grunge’ feel and wanted to
recreate this for my own magazine cover
image.
3. For my contents
page:
Date: 23/2/14.
Equipment: Nikon d3000 Camera.
Location: Muddy field, fence.
Main Model: Laura Mason.
Costume: (as before) + large tartan
shirt, camouflage jacket, black bowler
hat.
Makeup: (as before).
Hair: (as before).
Subsidiary Model: Grace Murray.
Costume: plain black top, blue jeans,
navy blue jacket, gold trainers, gold
hoop earrings, gold statement
necklace, multiple gold rings.
Makeup: bold, dark lipstick – plum
coloured.
Hair: straight with texture, half tied
up with ‘scrunchy’ hairband.
I chose this location because
I thought the fence would be
a good, plain background
and allow the focus to be on
the model.
I chose this costume because I wanted the
model to wear something different from the
cover and the tartan shirt was inspired from
the Lily Allen image.
I was inspired by the
image of Cara
Delevingne (used in the
mock-up) and therefore
wanted another blonde
model with distinctive
facial features.
I chose this costume
because I wanted to
stick to my colour
scheme. Also, I was
inspired by the current
fashion of young/adults
and teenagers, as they
are my target audience.
I chose this makeup look because I
thought it would emphasise the best
features of my model and the bold
look would show up well on camera.
4. For my double
page spread:
Date: 23/2/14.
Equipment: Nikon
d3000 Camera.
Location: Muddy field,
garage, car.
Subsidiary Model:
Grace Murray.
Costume: (as before) +
black and gold kimono,
blue dress, black bowler
hat, sunglasses.
Makeup: (as before).
Hair: (as before).
I chose this location because I
thought the garage would be an
interesting background and using a
car would give the page a unique
look. It would also symbolise making
a journey, as this is what I was the
page to represent; a band’s journey
into the spotlight. This idea was
inspired by the use of a car in NME’s
cover featuring Florence Welch.
I chose to add another
change of costume because I
thought it would create a
nice variety of images and
make them differ from one
another. Again, I was
inspired by current fashion
of my target audience to
appeal to them most, as well
as staying to my colour
scheme.
