2. The job of a runner is one of the entry level
positions in the TV and film industry. Most
directors and producers started their career in
this job, it entails running Erin's, conveying
messages, organising props, looking after cast&
crew, delivering technical equipment and keeping
everyone fed& watered.
4. QUALIFICATIONS
Anything from a couple of GCSEs to a
degree. You’ll also need a clean driving
licence lots of stamina, good at lifting
heavy WEIGHTS.
5. The grips are the fetchers and carriers of the
industry: great lugging hunks of gristle who move
sets, props, pianos, and multi-storey buildings.
Runners are employed as freelancers on
short-term contracts. As most runners are
using their position as a springboard, turnover
is high. Your best bet is to send a CV and
covering letter to as many production
companies as you can. Follow this up with a

opportunities.
