4. 1. Passion for Mission
• As missionaries – more even than as Christians –
we are committed to promoting God’s gory
through our work to save souls.
• I do everything for the Gospel.
• If we neither hot or cold, if we are only lukewarm
we will never succeed in anything.
• Our apostolic commitment must be supported by
knowledge.
• The genuine apostle is stable – s/he is both patient
and constant.

5. 2. Gentleness
• Jesus is our model
(gentle Lamb Is 57:3)
• Necessary in the
mission
• Anger is the
opposite of
Gentleness

6. 3. Energy and constancy
• Sometimes we complain that we do not really
enjoy what we do (we would like the Lord to make
us saints without any effort on our part).
• A genuine missionary knows how to double his
efforts.
• Value time
• A higher degree of strength (heroic missionaries)
• Greatest mistake: to think that we have given
ourselves completely to the Lord. (a thread of my
heart which does not belong to the Lord?)
• Constancy (a small good work carried through to
completion is worth more than grandiose projects
left half finished)

(Sem. Luiz Antonio, IMC)
7. 4. Love like a family (this is not a School or a
Seminary; it is a family)
• a big heart (missionaries must have a big heart
overflowing with compassion for their brethren)
• we ignore our neighbour’s many good qualities
and focus on small defects.
• Love each other as brothers and sisters (in the
family there will be always challenges)
• We must take people as they are (e.g. parish
priest with the Bishop)
• Spirit of communion
• Fraternal promotion (discrete, appropriate way
and time)

4. Love like a family

9. 5. Love for the Cross and Spirit of Sacrifice
• We must love and embrace sacrifice as sinners, as
Christians and even more so as missionaries
• Mortification of the tongue (Cf. James 3:5); be
silent? NO; think before you speak!
J. Allamano - Missionary Attitudes
(Sem. Luiz Antonio, IMC)
10. 6. Patience
• St. James: we must be patient if we are to
achieve perfection.
• On-going effort
• Ways? Ask for it in prayer

17. They devoted
themselves to the
teaching of the

20. The Gospel method in loving people
Love everyone;
love Jesus in one’s
be the first to love;
neighbour,
love others as oneself; love one’s enemies;
be one with everyone; strive for mutuality.

22. St Theresa of Avila
“Christ has no body now
on earth but ours; no
hands, no feet but ours.
Ours are the eyes
through which he looks
with compassion on the
world; ours are the feet
with which he walks to
do good."
