2. I asked my audience their
gender, and the main
response was female,
suggesting that my
audience would also be
this.
I also asked their age,
with the mode result at
60% being 16-19,
implying that this is my
main age range to appeal
too.
3. From this, I can also see that
80% prefer the indie and the
rock genre, showing me that
this is the preferred genre.
Therefore, these are the
genre’s I will be more likely to
choose for my music video.
This question shows me that
100% of people listen to music
on a daily basis, therefore
conveying the importance of
music to people.
4. This shows me that the main way people
listen to music is via their iPod,
confirming the idea that downloading is
the most popular way of listening to
music.
However, 60% of people also listen to
music through radio, showing that it is
still important to my audience still prefer
to listen to streamed music, as well as
listening to other music either in the
charts or familiar songs to the genre
being listened to. This is also established
from the 40% who also listen to music via
Music Channels on TV.
Also the same percentage listen to music
through CD’s, showing that some people
prefer listening to the artists whole album
and like to have the CD and packaging.
I asked if they watched music videos
and 100% do, showing me the
importance of them and that they are
viewed on a regular basis by everyone.
5. I also asked where music videos were
viewed and 100% showed YouTube (
www.youtube.com) as being the favourite
of all video exports. This could mainly be
due to the free accessibility of any music
video. Also, music channels, MTV being
the favourite.
From the results, I will be likely to out my
music video on YouTube for people to
watch as it is free for both parties and
people have unlimited access to it.
This also shows me the importance
of the video to the purchase of the
artists music, as it can influence
70% of the audience.
6. This response tells me that the main
thing people would like to see in my
video is the artist them selves
featured a lot and singing, as well as
a story line, costume changes, and
other characters.
I also have taken note from two
people that want to see codes and
conventions particular to my genre
(‘genre appropriate themes’), and
there to be an artistic theme as well
(‘arty.’)
Finally, I asked if they preferred
if a music video followed the
narrative to the song which
100% did, so I will also take this
into account.
