Baby project

As I walked in to my science class I saw everyone looking at the board. I was so tired because I
just had P.E. and I ran the mile. When I sat down in my seat to copy down the homework, it’s
when I saw it. We were doing the baby project. Next Friday we were picking our baby project
partners. The worst part about it was that it wasn’t like those baby’s that cry it was a rice bag.
The bag needed to be 10 pounds, but then I realized that it was better than having those kind of
baby’s that cry.

The teacher was telling us about the project. We needed to have a binder for all the baby’s
papers. Every day we needed to write a whole page about how our day was with the baby. He
also told us that on Friday the teacher was picking out partners. I thought we were picking our
partners. I didn’t want to be with someone I didn’t know or someone I didn’t like. He also told us
that we always needed to dress up the baby cause if we didn’t, he would take off points. We
couldn’t leave the baby in our lockers either cause that was a detention. The project hadn’t even
started and I was already hating it.

Hands sweating, nervous face, I walked in the class room. It was finally Friday. When I got there
the teacher had two hats where we needed to put a paper with our names. He passed out the
papers and everyone put their names in it and put it in the hat. I didn’t want to write my name
in the paper but I had to. When everyone was done writing their name we started picking our
partners. I was nervous I wanted my name to come out already but at the same time I didn’t
want it to come out. When my name finally came out they said who my partner was. My partner
was the kind of kid that would always get in trouble. At least I knew my partner and we kind of
talked. We also picked if it was a girl or a boy and I got a boy.

Shaking hands, scared face, I walked in to school. This was the first day we were starting to take
care of the “baby”. On Saturday I went out to buy baby clothes for my “baby”. I also went out to
buy the rice bag too. That Monday I was caring the baby in the morning and my partner took the
baby in third period. When I got home that day I was so tired because the bag was really heavy.
The good thing was that I took the baby one day and the next day my partner took it home.

We only needed to have the baby for two weeks. At first I wanted the two weeks to be over,
but then I got used to it and it was getting kind of fun. The only thing I hated the most was that
we needed to be carrying the baby all the time because it was heavy and if we didn’t carry the
baby, they either took it away from us and we needed to buy another rise bag or they would
give us detention and they took off points.

When we were done with the baby project we needed to turn in our binders with all of our
work. It was a lot of work so I needed to do a good job to get a good grade. The teacher took a
picture of us to put it in out binders. We got our binders back with our grades in one week. I was
always thinking I was going to get a bad grade because I didn’t really try to make everything look
good.

Cold hands, exited face, I went to get my binder. When I got my binder back I saw I got an A. I
was happy that I got a good grade because I thought I was going to get a C or D. I was surprised
too because a lot of people got D’s and F’s and it looked like they really tried to make their work
look good.

When I got home that day I told my mom “do you want the rice or what do I do with it? “

“ Take off the baby clothes and give me the bag because I need the rise.” said my mom.

When I took off the clothes I didn’t know the bag was opened from the bottom. So when I took
it off all the rice fell off on the floor, and my mom looked at me all mad. She thought I did it on
purpose but then we started laughing, but she made me clean the floor, but I was happy I at
least got a good grade.
