The document provides updates from YWAM Swaziland's ministry in April, May, and June 2012. It discusses (1) two successful seminars held at their campus, (2) major decisions needed regarding property and water access, and (3) hosting teams from South Africa and New Zealand who brought excitement through their service.

“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can
bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither
can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.“ John 15. 4
SAWUBONA!
This simple Swazi greeting is profound. I hear and say it numerous times every day, but
every once in a while I pause and think about its meaning. Although it is primarily used just like
hello, when literally translated it means, “I see you.”
It is so easy in life or in ministry to be overwhelmed with the list of things that need to get
done. Sadly, what happens next is, people also become tasks. Or else, they get in the way of us
and our “mission”. As Christians, our first duty is to love God and love people. Yet, how easily do
people get ignored for the sake of “productivity”? To truly love people requires much. But we see
in Christ how meaningful it is to simply say, “I see you. You are important to me.”

SEMINARS
Our first (march) and second (June) seminars
at YWAM Swaziland were a great success!
Individuals from eight different churches were
present, and we had great unity among the
attendees. Both teaching sessions included a group
discussion that was especially challenging. It was
great to see hear the responses, as people shared
their thoughts. Add in the wonderful fellowship as we
shared a tasty lunch together, and it was a great
day indeed! We have more seminars planned for the
coming months, and we hope to see this ministry
continue to grow!
PROPERTY AND WATER
Please pray for wisdom for us as we have some major
decisions to make as a ministry. The first is regarding our
property. We have no formal (written) agreement with the
owner, but are staying here rent-free with the understanding
we fix-up the place. The property is perfect for our needs
and we’ve started talking to the owner about making it our
own. We need much prayer as we decide what kind of offer
to make.
Secondly, for a long time our water situation has not been ideal. We pay for water to be
trucked in. Sometimes we go days without water. We have three options. We could drill a well for
around 6,000 dollars. We could pay to fix our neighbor’s well (who have supplied us in the past).
Or we could gather more of our neighbors; petition the government to extend the city pipe
another 300 yards, and pay for the pipe to our place. As you can see, these two issues (property
and water) are somewhat tied together. If you have any thoughts or words as you are praying,
please share them with us.

TEAM VISITS
It’s been so much fun hosting two DTS outreach teams
from Durban, South Africa and New Zealand this last month.
They have brought a fresh excitement to our campus with
their passion to serve God. They’ve been doing a wide
variety of ministry with YWAM and other organizations in
Swaziland, including evangelism, hospital ministry, work
projects, working with orphans, and extended trips to the
“bush” of Swaziland. We also had a wonderful “dance
party” with them to celebrate people from 11 different
nations coming together!
HOSPITAL
In September of last year, Amy began caring for a bright, young
woman named Nomphumelelo (meaning Success) who was suffering
from TB and meningitis. After two months in the hospital, Phumi was
discharged, but the friendship continued and grew as Amy called
often and visited with her and her extended family in their home.
Recently, after examination, Phumi was told that her TB treatment was
unsuccessful and a new round of treatment would need to begin in
July. Please pray for Phumi and her three beautiful children (ages
ranging between two and ten) as she is struggling to give them the
care and provision they need as she begins another eight month
round of treatment.
DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING SCHOOL
Unfortunately, the Discipleship Training School we planned to run this July has been
cancelled. There was interest in the school, but the challenge for all the Swazis was fundraising.
The school is already reduced, as much as possible, but without sponsorship these students still
could not pay for their meals. We are still committed to discipleship as our primary focus, but
we’re now looking at more creative options to accomplish this. We are also planning how we can
have a successful DTS in July 2013!
PROJECTS
As we mentioned in our last newsletter, we are starting different
stewardship projects this year. God has blessed with so much potential
for multiplication, and we want to make the most of it. With the
resources we generate we can help our staff, the local community,
and have more effective ministries!
The first project we have undertaken is Egg-laying Chickens. We have
prepared an area, and begun building the run. We will start with 12
chickens, producing +/- 84 eggs a week! The whole project will cost
1.400 Emalangeni (+/- $200) including building materials and birds. If you want to invest in this
project or others just let us know!
