Home care market strengthens with economic recovery from recession in 2010
The home care market fared the economic crisis relatively well in 2009; while value growth
slowed down it was not by a large extent as consumers only tended to cut back slightly on
higher-end products or tried to be more attentive to price promotions of brands instead of
simply trading down en masse to private label. In 2010, with the stronger economic
situation and in turn consumer sentiment, value growth strengthened further. The main
growth drivers in the home care market in 2010 were liquid laundry detergents and fabric
softeners, air care, toilet care, as well as automatic dishwashing tablets and disinfectants;
very few categories experienced negative growth, with bleach being one.
