• Place making is part of what we do in our day-to-day
work across many disciplines and work activities, and
yet we do not always realize this
• There are ‘natural’ choices for place making activity
based on previous decisions, existing works focus
and geographical drivers

• A sense of empowerment and ownership is key to
making places
• Council has a limited ability to make individual
places, it is by nature up to the ‘locals’ to make their
own place

• There appears to be no specific strategic priority
allocated to place making to support the
implementation of place making activities
• The places in our City are all different – some have
regional significance and attraction, and others are
more limited in scope to neighborhoods and local
activity
