Introduction
Social Entrepreneurship is an emerging field in South Africa and an exciting new
avenue to address socio-economic needs in Africa.
Innovation is essential for progress; particularly in these economic downturns. In the
midst of our current challenges there is a new generation of social entrepreneurs
practicing innovative solutions and determined to create a better future for our
country.
The CREATE Social Innovation Tour in Johannesburg focuses on what is working in
our communities to drive positive change. We will visit projects, aim to learn from
these solutions and each participant’s experience while building partnerships to scale
up or replicate innovation.
Purpose
This programme provides participants the opportunity to:
1. Develop a deeper understanding of the amazing changes taking place in
today’s South Africa
2. Share knowledge and experiences in working in communities, building social
businesses and other forms of social innovation
3. Obtain an informed framework for corporate social investment
4. Explore opportunities that exist for developing partnerships between:
- South African social entrepreneurs and those visiting from abroad
- the corporate sector
- government
Participants
This social innovation tour invites a rich diversity of participants who are:
- Social entrepreneurs from around the world
- Investors and financiers
- Senior executives in corporations
- Media and communication specialists
- Government officials in commerce, community or environmental portfolios

2. Participation rates
Corporate: R16 800
NGO: R10 000
Individual: R7 700
Participation rate includes two nights accommodation at a bush lodge in the Cradle of
Mankind (22nd and 23rd May) and all meals and transport during the programme.
