 Wellington’s Basin Reserve
currently functions as a large
roundabout with signals. The
streets in this area have several
functions, and congestion is
affecting SH1 traffic, local traffic,
freight, pedestrians, cyclists and
bus travel. If we don’t do
something now, things are only
going to get worse.
 Greater Wellington Regional
Council, Wellington City Council
and the NZTA have all agreed that
north-south traffic needs to be
separated from east-west traffic
in this area, and following
extensive investigations and
community engagement, the
NZTA has made the decision to
proceed with bridge option
