24. Anesthesia: Hernia Repairs on Infants (00834-00836)
Question:
I am trying understand CPT® codes 00834 and 00836. I think
00834 is saying is the baby was born full term, meaning beyond
37 weeks, and is younger than a year old when the hernia repairs
happen. Unlike CPT® code 00836 which, I think, would be for a
baby who was not born full term but has to have the repair done
before they are 50 gestational weeks old. If I am understanding
both of these codes correctly, how would you code for a baby
that was not full term but had the repairs after they are older then
50 week gestational?

25. Decompression of Meniscal Cysts
Question: I need help in finding a CPT code for
decompression of meniscus cysts. Documentation states,
"In the meniscus, there were multiple cysts along the
anterior tibial lateral condyle and Hoffa synovitis. Using
shavers and radiofrequency probe, cysts were
decompressed and synovectomy was performed." I am
thinking it is a separate procedure from the synovectomy, or
synovectomy is bundled with the decompression.
