The December 2015 Q&A Medical Coding Webinar from Certification Coaching Org (CCO), www.cco.us, discussed a variety of topics of interest to outpatient and inpatient medical coders. Topics included Vaccine Coding, Fiber Optic Bronchoscopy, Wound Clinic, CABG CPT Coding, Code G83.24, Audits on 99215, Colonoscopy, Back to Basics – CPT Code 87798. There was also a team discussion by CCO Instructors on the relationship of the CCO Blitz Reviews and their relationship to AAPC credentials.

Code G83.24 Question: Code G83.24 Monoplegia of upper limb affecting left non-dominant side.This code is affecting the left side of the person, my question is, due to non-dominant side would this make the person left handed as dominant or right handed. For example, code G83.23 effecting side is right, but due to non-dominant the person is left handed. My question again is, G83.24, the person is right handed or left handed? ANSWER

Also, been having some trouble with the new colo code of 45388 - any tips on getting that code paid? More: Can 45388, 45384, and 45385 be reported together if the op report states patient in for screening colonoscopy for malignancy and removed polyps from the ascending colon by ablation, removed two from the splenic flexure by hot probe, and 2 from the descending colon by snare technique?   24. 24. Back to Basics - CPT Code 87798 Question: CPT - 87798 ~ amplified probe tech each organism A provider is billing 87798 for each of these labs: 87661, 87653, 87640 and 87591. These codes are not listed under 87797 which is the infectious agent detection by nucleic acid which then they could be 87798 for each organism. The codes above are all by direct probe but should the provider bill 87798 for each of these? They billed: 87798 87798 87661 87653 87640 87591 ANSWER
