12. Dan Finn was a loving son, a dedicated athlete and a caring soul. What started as a fund raiser to assure the Finn family was taken care of in their greatest time of need has become one of the most prestigious events in high school basketball. In 2005, the Dan Finn Classic was a small event held in one of the smallest gyms in Jersey City, 2009 saw a packed house in the enormity that is the Jersey City Armory with some of the most talented high school basketball players in New Jersey gracing the floor. The level of talent taking the floor every year continues to escalate but some things stay the same: Mr. and Mrs. Finn with front row seats, hundreds of referees running the day smoothly, smiles across the faces of so many fans that walk through the door, and Dan’s legacy and spirit so prominently felt from days start until days end.
