SAFETY RELATED ISSUES
The current practices in the tower installations and maintenance industry are very dangerous, as the engineers have to
climb up the tower, which are several hundred feet above ground that results in accidental deaths.
According to WirelessEstimator.com, there were 43 fatalities at communication tower worksites between 2011-16.
EXPENSIVE
The tower maintenance is currently costly for the telecommunication companies, as it involves hiring engineers
who are risking their lives at the tower sites and also paying hefty insurance premiums for accidental coverage of
the engineers.
TIME CONSUMING
Current tower maintenance practices are very time consuming, since the engineers have to climb up to the antennas which
results in massive downtime of the targeted telecom antennas.
UNWELCOMED INTERRUPTIONS
Existing tower maintenance companies lease the tower to multiple companies, which means multiple antennas on
a single tower. Maintenance of one company’s antennas also result in unwelcomed interruptions of the signal
supplies to other companies’ service users.

The industry has also seen a steady increase in capital expenditures to go along with the tower site expansion. SNL Kagan estimates the
total U.S. carrier capex was about $20.59 billion in 2008 and grew to over $30 billion five years later at the peak of the 4G LTE buildout
The Key driving forces of tower industry are:
• Advancement of technology
• Innovation in tower designs
• Competition
• Coverage of Rural Areas

SOLUTION

SAFER MECHANISM
The use of self-supporting towers will eliminate the need of climbing the tower by the engineer, thus resulting in no
injuries/fatalities of engineers. The self-supporting tower will elevate/demote the antennas/mast through remote
programming for maintenance and upgrades.
COST EFFECTIVE
The self-supporting towers will help the telecommunication companies to reduce their cost by negotiating salaries
with the engineers as the engineers will not have to risk their lives anymore. Additionally, the Telco will save
insurance cost of accidental coverage of their technicians.
TIME SAVING
Through remote programming, the Engineers will demote the antennas/mast while being on their way to site, which will
result in minimum downtime and improved services to the users.
NO MORE INTERRUPTIONS
Through innovation, the mast will be able demote antennas of particular telecommunication company which will
result in no interruption for other antennas of different companies.

The tower will be a decagon, so that 360-degree coverage
can be split into 40-degree slices for increased, pinpointed
coverage. It is also designed this way so that masts that
hold antennas/microwaves etc. and as well be a
standalone unit so that when maintenance or upgrades
are warranted it can be easily retracted for maintenance
and upgrade. It will also have advertising banners that
can be electronic or inert. Material will be sleek, with
clean lines modern and cloaked for multiuse.
This design has a trifecta benefit:
• It allows technicians to have easy access to the mast
without having to take a risk of climb. In turn
allowing carriers to limit injuries or even fatalities for
install, upgrades and maintenance and save time and
money.
• One will be able to access a unit without interfering
with other carriers; also remote adjust antenna angle.
• One will be able to put advertising to one of the faces.
