SEX MARRIAGE
Homosexuality and same-sex marriage is a major
topic within government currently. To be
homosexual a person is attracted to someone
of their same sex. Some people are accepting of
gays and their rights, while others oppose
them. The reason this is a major topic in
government right now is many people are
fighting for the legality of same- sex marriage.
Two completely different sides exist and they
are both very opposite and uncompromising.

3. RELIGION
The many reason many people oppose gay
marriage is they believe it violates the
principles of their religion. Some even believe
that homosexuality is a sin.

4. According to research done by the Pew Research
Center, many Americans are becoming more
accepting of the idea of same-sex marriage. It is
said in the article to be described as inevitable.
This attitude is also growing. In 2003, 59% of
people saw the legality of gay marriage as being
inevitable. By 2013, 72% of people believed this.

5. Homosexuality in general is increasingly
becoming more widespread. The reason it is
such a major topic in government is because
more people are coming out and being
accepted for their sexual orientation. According
to a article done by the Pew Research Center,
92% of adults that are a part of LGBT believe
that Americans as a whole have become more
accepting of homosexuals in the past ten
years.

6. According to the Pew Research center, public
approval of gay marriage is up to an all time
high of 51%. This is good news to the gay
community because as more people approve of
their sexual orientation and rights, the closer
they are to being more widely accepted.

7. IMPORTANCE
The topic of gay marriage and homosexuality is
important because it relates to the power of
government within people’s personal lives and
also how accepting society is of others.
