2. What is a ‘Genre’?
Genre, in film theory refers to the
method based on similarities in the
narrative elements from which films
are constructed. Films are classified
into their respective genres based
on the plot, mise-en-scene and
characters.
3. • Film Genre can be classified into:
• Comedy
• Horror
• Documentaries
• Action Thriller
• Science Fiction

5. My Film
The genre I have chosen as the base of my film
is a hybrid genre, the amalgamation of drama
and a psychological thriller. A drama film is a
film genre that depends mostly on in-depth
development of realistic characters dealing
with emotional themes.
In dramatic films, details such as emotion,
landscape and mise-en-scene are symbolic
representations that have meaning in every
scenario.
6. The genre I have chosen
for my film is inspired
the by the genre of my
reference film, Gone
Girl. This film is also an
amalgamation of drama
and a psychological
thriller. Making your film
based on a hybrid genre
gives it more edge
making it diverse in
nature, which is what I
plan to do.
