ABSTRACT
Airline reservation System is a computerized system used to store
and retrieve information and conduct transactions related to air
travel.
The project is aimed at exposing the relevance and importance of
Airline Reservation Systems.
It is projected towards enhancing the relationship between
customers and airline agencies through the use of ARSs, and
thereby making it convenient for the customers to book the flights
as when they require such that they can utilize this software to
make reservations.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT
I express my sincere thanks to all those who have provided guidance
towards the completion of the system as part of syllabus of the B.Sc. (IT)
course.
The satisfaction that accompanies that the successful completion of any task
would be incomplete without the mention of people whose ceaseless
cooperation made it possible, whose constant guidance and encouragement
crown all efforts with success.
We are also thankful to my colleagues with whom we have fruitful
discussions which have helped us a lot in giving a final shape to the
program.
Also thanks to all other teaching & non-teaching staff of Information
Technology Department for their timely help while working in this project.

INTRODUCTION
An airline reservation system (ARS) is part of the so-called
passenger service systems (PSS), which are applications supporting the
direct contact with the passenger.
ARS eventually evolved into the computer reservations system
(CRS). A computer reservation system is used for the reservations of a
particular airline and interfaces with a global distribution system (GDS)
which supports travel agenciesand other distribution channels in making
reservations for most major airlines in asingle system.
Today all persons are busy with their schedule and no one have time
to makea trip for holidays with their family. And this Airline Reservation
Process is very difficult to understand in General meaning. But we are
providing a Solution for thatProblem.
This system provides a facility to easy access towards a customers
and a real time user. They can easily have connected through it and just 3
steps. There is norequirement for any type of Agent. We are giving an all
this facility in one project “Airline Reservation System”.
1.1 OBJECTIVE OF PROJECT
a. Maintaining safe records
b. Should be easier to find for a record in the database
c. The loss of data in any corruption of any files in the system will be
avoided due to any natural case
d. Minimizing errors of the information recorded in the system while
entering to the system
e. The new system should be user friendly
f. There should be a method of keeping the information from
unauthorized users.

1.2 SCOPE OF PROJECT
1. Airline Reservation System make the life of passengers very easy as
they don’t need to stand in queues for getting their seats reserved and
they can easily make reservations on any airline just from a single
system.
2. The purpose of Airline reservation system project is to build an
application program which airline could use to manage the reservation
of airlines ticket. Scope and Purpose
1.3 DISPLAY AND RESERVATION
1. Users access an airline’s inventory through an availability display. It
contains all offered flights for a particular city-pair with their available
seats in the different booking classes.
2. The availability of seats of other airlines is updated through standard
industry interfaces. Depending on the type of co-operation it supports
access to the last seat (Last Seat Availability) in real-time.
e.g. for a vegetarian meal, as well as the flights (segments) and issued
tickets. Some reservation systems also allow to store customer data in
profiles to avoid data re-entry each time a new reservation is made for a
known passenger.
1.4 FARE QUOTE AND TICKETING
The Fares data store contains fare tariffs, rule sets, routing maps, class
of service tables, and some tax information that construct the price -
"the fare".
Rules like booking conditions (e.g. minimum stay, advance purchase,
etc.) are tailored differently between different city pairs or zones, and
assigned a class of service corresponding to its appropriate inventory
bucket. Inventory control can also be manipulated manually through
9. 9
the availability feeds, dynamically controlling how many seats are
offered for a particular price by opening and closing particular
classes.
1.5 PROFILE OF THE PROBLEM
The web based “airline reservation system” project is an attempt to
stimulate the basic concepts of airline reservation system.
The system enables the customer to do the things such as search for
airline flights for two travel cities on a specified date, choose a flight
based on the details, reservation of flight and cancellation of
reservation.
The system allows the airline passenger to search for flights that are
available between the two travel cities, namely the “Departure city”
and “Arrival city” for a particular departure and arrival dates.
The system displays all the flight’s details such as flight no, name,
price and duration of joinery.
1.6 DISADVANTAGES IN EXISTING SYSTEM: -
1. Time consuming
2. Possibly of losing data
3. Lack of security
4. Difficulties in maintaining records
5. Human error will be frequent
6. searching the records manually leads time consuming.

EXISTING SYSTEM & ANALYSIS
2.1 PROBLEM DEFINATION
In the existing system all the data are stored manually to an excel sheet
and filed accordingly in a filing cabinet.
