Editor's Notes
Thank you for joining us today, we appreciate your taking the time out of your busy schedules to participate. This is Susan your moderator and welcome to our webinar Supercharge your Non-Profit with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and Grant Management addon . I am joined by Ed and Boni from Korcomptenz.
A digital-first shift is changing how nonprofits operate. Seventy-six percent of nonprofits feel they need to develop a data strategy for their organization and those with a high digital maturity are 1.4x more likely to acknowledge this compared to those with low digital maturity. Within three years, the majority of nonprofits expect to be doing the majority of their work online. To accomplish this feat, their adoption of technology and data acumen must hasten, and Microsoft is uniquely positioned to help in this regard.
We have a packed Agenda today. Firstly, Ed will take us through the challenges plaguing the non-profit sector as well as the solutions tailored to address these challenges from both Microsoft and Korcomptenz. Secondly Boni will showcase the demo on Business Central and Grant Management, followed by a recorded demo by our colleague Murali, concluding with current offers and Q & A.
This webinar is brought to you by Korcomptenz. Korcomptenz is a technology transformation provider that partners with clients to improve their digital experience and insight. We unlock the power of technology in the areas of ERP, CRM, infrastructure management, and cloud to empower our clients with intelligent and experiential solutions. We #FocusOnYou
Supporting nonprofits is a part of Microsoft’s DNA. Microsoft is committed to providing affordable and relevant technology solutions to nonprofit organizations around the world, offering grants and discounts on our cloud products including Azure, Dynamics 365, and Microsoft 365, as well as nonprofit specific solutions like Fundraising and Engagement and digital skilling.
With this I will hand it over to Ed, to take us through the challenges of the non-profit sector. Over to you Ed.
Thank you Susan.
Here is a list of the top challenges facing the industry that our team put together, after consulting many studies – some done by Microsoft and others done by industry research organizations. We have bucketed them across 4 themes – Engagement & Collaboration, IT, Finance & Operations and Mission Impact.
When it comes to engagement & collaboration challenges, with constituents such as customers, donors and volunteers, Many Non-Profits have experienced a spike in this area during the pandemic.
They want to engage and understand their donors and volunteers better over digital channels. They want to be able to provide a truly interesting experience with virtual events. They also need a better way to manage their gifts and income streams.
From an IT perspective, Cyber Security came up as the top challenge across many studies. Non-Profits are often more vulnerable, because they may not have adequate resources to safeguard the data they need, to operate efficiently – thereby impacting everyone from donors to program participants and volunteers. Reducing systems complexity and better handling the integration of disparate systems, are the other key challenges in this bucket.
Moving on to the Finance and Operations area, automating financial reporting, purchasing and spend control are the key challenges here. Efficient Fund accounting and Grant Management are high up on the list as well.
Finally, gaining in-depth visibility into the mission impact is key. Many Non-Profits face challenges Tracking, measuring and accurately reporting outcomes to donors and management.
Based on the list of challenges we just walked through, it's clear that a new approach is needed, for Non-Profits to navigate and thrive in this increasingly digital world.
They need to improve engagement and collaboration, by drawing insights from their data and being more proactive to connect with the right donors at the right time.
They also need to take steps to empower their teams to deliver richer reporting, on outcomes to their constituents.
For example, Instead of focusing on traditional reporting activity and saying 20 volunteers showed up to four country sites, they can provide a picture that is rich in data, on outcomes and impact and explain through engaging dashboards to potential donors that their non-profit works on the UN Sustainable Development Goal 3.2.2, to improve maternal health and vaccinations.
And that so far, they have increased prenatal care by x%`, while increasing post-natal vaccinations by y% through education, routine care, and follow-up education. Research shows that Non-Profits that provide richer reporting on outcomes attract significantly more funds.
This wheel speaks to how Microsoft helps Non-Profits take a fresh new approach, by providing end-to-end solutions covering all areas including the front office, back office, reporting and insights.
As you can see, the solutions span multiple areas including fund raising and engagement, finance, Operations and program dashboards. All these solutions are based on the cloud, shown here at the center of the circle and they also use Microsoft's Common Data Model, so data access is seamless between all Microsoft applications.
So how does Korcomptenz deliver on Microsoft's vision for Non-Profits?
Korcomptenz is a full service shop and can deliver solutions that cuts across a Non-Profit enterprise. This is what we are trying to communicate with this slide and the 4 layers you see here.
The first layer is made up of business functions we support within a non-profit enterprise.
The second is made of Microsoft products that most often service those functions, though we might sometimes have some overlap.
The third layer is made up of services we provide on top of those products along with customizations, to meet the specific needs of our customers. While Microsoft has a comprehensive solutions stack for non-profits, we evaluate a customer's specific situation and if we have to integrate any other solution to the Microsoft stack to achieve this, we have the expertise to do that as well.
And finally the fourth layer conveys that all these solutions leverage the power of the Azure Cloud and Microsoft's Common Data Model.
Thank you, Ed. Hello, everyone I am Boni and I will be taking you through a demo of Business Central and our Grant Management Add-On.
On this slide, what you are seeing is a mix of standard D365 BC features & additional features by Korcomptenz which are very useful for non profit organizations. These include proposals, Grants, Funds, Revenue Recognition, Billing, Advances, Accountabilities and Indirect cost allocations. Because of time constraints, we will not cover all these features in this demo.
Just to give us a brief explanation on some of terminologies we are using:
Fund matching refers to scenarios where one project is implemented by an organization through funds received from different donors. In this case, each donor will require a different report, based on what they donated.
Then we have Performance obligations: These are deliverables expected from the receiver of donated funds, as per grant agreements.
Indirect costs are expenses incurred by an organization, which can’t be directly associated with a specific project. For instance, rent paid for office space is not likely to be changed to a single project given that the organization is running multiple projects from the same office space.
In today’s webinar, we will look at an Introduction to Dynamics 365 Business Central, then we will discuss Grants Management, Budget Controls, Processing of Purchase Invoices, Payments & Bank Reconciliations. Thereafter, we will go through Advance and accountabilities processing, indirect rates calculations and indirect costs allocations. Lastly we will discuss Reporting, then Murali we take us through analytics and dashboards.
Thank you, Murali and Boni, for that informative demo. We will now going over one of our success stories and the attractive price offers available for non-profit, from Microsoft.
Moving on to the special offers from Microsoft for Non-Profits.
Enabling nonprofits with grants and discounted pricing is a key component of Microsoft's approach to helping Non-Profits. On this slide, you can see some of the active offers across 3 buckets – Modern Workplace, Biz Apps and Power Platform in the second bucket and Azure in the third.
For example, the Fundraising and Engagement component, leverages Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise and Azure licenses. Here, for the Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise licenses, the first 5 users are free and then additional users beyond the first 5 users, will be priced at $23.75/user/month. For Azure, Microsoft offers a $3,500 grant every year, to eligible nonprofit organizations.
Similar discounts are offered on other Microsoft Applications and as a Microsoft Gold Partner, we at Korcomptenz can combine Microsoft discounts and KOR Services to provide you with what you need, at a competitive price point. To know more, please contact our team for a detailed consultation.
