or dad. We wait in the lobby. They
will call my name to let me know

5. The dentist will smile at me and ask
me to sit in the dental chair.

6. They will have tools to use inside my
mouth.

7. The dentist will put a bib around my
neck. I will lay back on the chair.

8. She will wear a mask over her nose
and mouth.

9. The dentist will ask me to open my
mouth. They need to see inside my
mouth because that is where my teeth
are.

10. They will brush my teeth with an
electric brush. It will be loud but it
won’t hurt. I will feel vibration or
“buzzing” on my teeth and gums.

11. My mouth will
get wet. They
will use a straw
to suck out the
wetness in my
mouth. It might
be kind of loud,
like a vacuum
cleaner.

12. The dentist will use a bright light to
look inside my mouth. I can wear
sunglasses if it is too bright for me.

13. Sometimes the dentist will take an x-ray
of my teeth. The machine might make a
buzzing or beeping noise. It won’t hurt
a bit. I hold still so they can take the
picture.

14. Here is an x-ray of teeth. It helps the
dentist look at my entire mouth.

15. The dentist will floss my teeth. No
problem. I will stay still and keep my
mouth open.

16. A dental mirror is placed near my
teeth so the dentist can see
underneath.

17. They will use a mirror when they
scrape the bacteria and germs off
my teeth.

18. They might place a mask with
bubblegum air on my nose.

19. It is normal to feel a little nervous or
uncomfortable because I’m not used
to going to the dentist.

20. Soon I will feel calm because I know
what to do at the dentist office.

21. When the dentist is done cleaning my
teeth I can look at my clean teeth.

22. When I am done, I get down from the
dental chair. Time to pick a prize.
