Beautiful and long-lived, cypresses are
popular for landscaping. Several species of
these fast-growing trees exist, all requiring
the same care.

3.  Cypresses grow best in bright sunlight or
light shade, and it is best to avoid planting
in dark shade. Moist soil is with a pH of 5.5 to
6.5 best. Mixing in peat moss to a depth of
12 inches helps the acidity of the soil.
The soil needs to remain damp; in the West,
this will require twice-a-week hand
watering. Rainfall should be sufficient in
other areas.

dry season. The tree's rapid growth
causes dense branch networks to form
and block out sunlight. Many people
remove the top parts of the cypress'
pyramidal shape if they are creating
privacy barriers.
