2. INTRODUCTION
 As an obstetrician and gynecologist (OBGYN), Dr. Keith Reisler
participated in a key study regarding treatment for patients with
recurring pregnancy loss. Keith Reisler, MD, received recognition
for his care of patients in this study, which proved instrumental in
determining treatment plans for women with a history of
miscarriage.
For many years, the common wisdom has advised women who
have experienced a miscarriage to wait up to six months before
attempting to conceive again. The National Institutes of Health
(NIH) recently tested this theory by reviewing data from more
than 1,000 women who lost a baby in the first 20 weeks of
gestation. Researchers followed the three-quarters of study
participants who began trying to conceive within three months of
miscarriage, as compared to the remaining women, who
extended their wait.

3. CONCEPTION AFTER PREGNANCY LOSS
 Data from this study showed a 69 percent pregnancy
rate among those women who began trying for
conception sooner, as compared to 51 percent
among those who waited longer. The rate of live birth
was also 17 percent higher among the population
with a shorter wait time, who had a 53 percent live
birth rate as compared to their peers' 36 percent rate.
There were no differences in pregnancy
complications between the two groups. This finding
appears to align with previous research surrounding
emotional recovery, which indicates that pregnancy
and live birth may alleviate the grief associated with
spontaneous pregnancy loss.
