An anti-slavery campaign; Hope for justice,
created real life posters of victims who were
sold into slavery. This would draw people in
to read the poster as they would
automatically think of ‘12 years a slave’. This
advertises the film and the charity at the
same time although it benefits the charity
more.

MARKETING AND PROMOTION
This is a promotional advert in the metro
newspaper. This would have helped promote the
movie as the metro is free and morning
commuters pick p the newspaper to read on the
way to work on in their lunch breaks. The average
age of morning commuters is 20 – 40 not
including school children. Advertising in a busy
area can help advertise products a lot as more
people than average will look at posters and go
and see the film/buy the product.

YouTube is a forever growing company. It
is in someway used more then other site on
the web and can have more views then TV
shows. Advertising on YouTube has gained
2,710,029 views. At the end of this clip it
shows many famous actors, this helps
promote the film as people will go see it to
see their favourite actors. We also know
from this clip the film is based on a real
book so therefore if someone has read the
book they will also see the film. These are
many ways that the film gets noticed by.

The film won 223 awards all over the world. This include actor
awards and motion picture awards.
