2. Personal Statement Why Psychology? The field of psychology has always fascinated me. After completing several courses related to the field at the community college level, I was captivated; I knew this was a field I wanted to further study. This field has captured my interest since my first course, and has never let me go. I have always been studious in my educational endeavors, so once I latched onto the field of psychology, I knew it would be a topic that would always captivate me.
4. Reflection What I’ve Learned There are so many things that I have had the opportunity to learn while enrolled in this Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree program at Argosy University. The online learning environment can only be mastered by those who are very self-disciplined. All of the lectures are to be read online, without the benefit of just sitting in a classroom absorbing the information through verbal lectures. There is no one reminding you to log into the classroom, participate in discussions, or turn in homework assignments. One has to be entirely self-motivated in order to succeed in this type of environment. Fortunately, my motivation to obtain this degree is entirely for my own benefit. I did not complete this degree to further my career options, or to make my family happy; this degree is just for my own personal satisfaction. It was important for me to do well, not for anyone else, personal fulfillment was my only motivation.

6. My Future in Learning Future Plans My plan for this degree is to add it to my bankability. I am not looking to advance my position, change my career, but it will definitely be added to my resume. I will move from the rank of Americans that have an associate’s degree as their highest level of education to the more elite level of Americans that have a bachelor’s degree. Upon completion of this degree, I will be the first of my four siblings that have earned this level of education. I will be using the knowledge and skills I have acquired throughout this degree program in my own day-to-day life. This does not happen all at once when I’m graduated. Through each class I know I am bettering myself, I have a wider wealth of knowledge to share, and I feel as though I better understand people and their intentions better than I did before. Education has always been important to me. Ever since I was young, I couldn’t wait until I could attend college. Although this did not happen exactly the way I had planned, everything worked out for the best. I feel that although I am older than the typical college graduate, my maturity has brought more to the table in both class discussions, as well as in the assignments I completed. In fact, after I am finished with all of my required courses to complete this degree program, I will be starting a second bachelor degree, this time in photography, another field that has been intriguing to me for quite some time.
