2. Step 1
We dressed Demi in India’s costume and put
suitable make up consisting of eye shadow for
bruising and fake blood for fake, deep blisters
and cuts.
3. Step 2
We dressed the basement set
consisting of a chair, smashed
mirror and rubble across the
floor. We also made sure that
the lighting was exactly the
same to the previous times we
had shot scenes in the
basement by looking at
footage and photos taken
before. Therefore we were
creating continuing between
shots.
4. Step 3 We experimented with
different shots of India in the
basement. For example we
focused on an establishing,
panning shot of the
basement setting the
location. We then
experimented with ways in
which India could escape
from the basement. For
example we made India walk
straight towards the camera
and cover the lense as she
walks past towards the stairs.
Immediately after we moved
the camera facing towards
the stairs showing India
walking up each step. This
created an interesting, fast
paced transition; a match on
action shot.
5. Step 4
We then filmed Demi escaping
from the basement. Due to
forgetting the dolly in Media
Studies we decided that having
Agatha wearing roller blades
would allow us to create an
equally efficient, smooth
tracking shot.
6. Step 5
We then moved outside and filmed Demi
escaping from ‘Jacks’ house running out
of the front door, through the porch and
across the gravel drive way.
I filmed Demi and placed the camera on
the gravel creating a close up shot of
Demi’s trainers running across the
gravel. This created an action, fast paced
shot suited to the theme and story of
our film opening – escaping.
