In what way does your product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products
1. In what way does your product use,
develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products
2. Characters
• Lower-class, Chavs
– We tried to make one girl (Billy) look more
appealing than the other, dressing more
provocatively wearing a revealing vest top and
tight jeans
– The other girl (Mia) was wearing a dirty jumper
and we backcombed her hair to make it look
messy.
– Billy’s shoes were also high-heeled and sparkly,
compared to Mia’s dirty unnflattering jumper
3. Titles
We used red titles, connoting danger, as a warning
of the drug use. They are also short and thin like
other films of our inspiration. Trainspotting,
Social Dramas have less conventions in titles, and
some (Fishtank, 2009) don’t feature any from
the opening. In this sense we are challenging the
conventions of our genre.
4. Plot
Our film begins suddenly in the lives of our
characters, like Fishtank& Requiem for a
dream, in harsh settings. They show
characters in their homes , known as kitchen
sink realism.
5. We also included shots similar to Requiem for
a Dream, showing drug intoxication and our
costume also in common with Fishtank.
