World Jurist Association National Presidents
Recognition and Responsibilities
The World Jurist Association is pleased to recognize ALBERTO JURADO as its National President for
VENEZUELA. The position of National Presidents has been created to facilitate communication and activities
of the WJA in various countries of the world.
National Presidents are nominated by the Headquarters office and appointed by the Board of Governors. They
work closely with the Headquarters Office to ensure that the WJA meets the needs and interests of its members
in the country that they represent. These officers serve in a voluntary capacity and are the representative of the
WJA in the country they represent.
Recognition
National Presidents are recognized on the reverse side of the WJA letterhead and on the WJA website.
Responsibilities
The WJA National Presidents serve the World Jurist Association in many ways. Primarily they are responsible
for encouraging new members from their country and working to retain existing members.
They also serve as a liaison between the WJA headquarters, the Board of Governors and the individual
members of their countries. The National Presidents also work with the Continental Presidents, who are
members of the WJA Board of Governors to promote the needs of their country’s legal profession.
In recent years, our National Presidents have helped us by:
Hosting conferences or Congresses in their country,
Encouraging new members to join our family,
Leading delegations to our international events,
Participating as speakers or moderators during conferences or Congresses,
Authoring articles for Law/Technology or the World Jurist, and.
Generously providing financial support and sponsorship.
2. 2
National Presidents must remain active members of the WJA during their tenure. They must maintain their
membership dues and participate at international meetings. National Presidents are encouraged to attend the
Biennial Congress and to meet with their counterparts around the world.
If a National President cannot attend the Congress, he or she is encouraged to attend at least one conference
each year.
Limitations on Office
National Presidents are not voting members of the Board of Governors and they do not have the authority,
unless expressly granted, to receive funds, enter into contracts, or assign association funds. National Presidents
cannot represent the WJA in that capacity in more than one country.
