CEO EIT URBAN MOBILITY. Full-time position at EIT Urban Mobility HQ in Barcelona
1. EIT Knowledge and Innovation Communities bring together businesses (industry and SMEs),
research centres and universities as partners, creating a favourable environment for creative
thought and innovation to flourish, allowing innovative products and services to be developed in
every area imaginable, including climate change, healthy living and active ageing, new
companies to be started, and a new generation of entrepreneurs to be trained. They carry out a
whole range of activities that cover the entire innovation chain – including training and education
programmes, reinforcing the journey from research to the market, innovation projects as well as
business incubators and accelerators. Innovation Communities have been conceived so that they
are able to react in an effective and flexible way to new challenges and changing environments.
EIT Urban Mobility is a consortium of 48 partners from 15 countries dedicated to accelerating
solutions that improve our collective use of urban spaces, while ensuring accessible, convenient,
safe, efficient, sustainable and affordable multimodal mobility. EIT Urban Mobility’s objective is
to rethink urban spaces, overcoming fragmentation by integrating all urban mobility players –
including cities and citizens – and increasing social inclusion and equality.

About the position
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for the overall success of the EIT Urban Mobility
and for making top-level managerial decisions. The CEO reports directly to, and is accountable
to, the Supervisory Board and is responsible for leading the development and execution of EIT
Urban Mobility strategy and the implementation of the organization’s vision and mission.
Key responsibilities:
• Lead the development of the EIT Urban Mobility strategy and annual business plans,
• Actively communicate the EIT Urban Mobility vision and strategy to all stakeholders,
• Support the development of a strong EIT Urban Mobility culture and brand,
• Actively operate to maintain and strengthen the EIT Urban Mobility partnership and partner
engagement,
• Build and lead a strong management and operations team,
• Chair the Management Team meetings and act as the Management Team spokesperson,
• Ensure alignment and collaboration with and among regional CLC’s,
• Establish effective and transparent channels of coordination, communication and reporting
within the organization and with EIT,
• Serve as a high-level representative for EIT Urban Mobility towards the European
Commission, the EIT and other stakeholders,
• Oversee execution of the EIT framework and grant agreements with the EIT and partner
organizations,
2. • Provide general oversight of all EIT Urban Mobility activities, oversee the management day-
to-day operations and assure a smoothly functioning and efficient organization,
• Oversee the further development of the selection and evaluation criteria of the projects, set
internal call priorities and select projects with the Management Team to be included in the
yearly Business Plan,
• Support development of sustainable income streams including attracting and maintaining
additional funding from private and public sources.
• Ensure appropriate and timely financial management and control of the EIT Urban Mobility
LE (legal Entity), including any subsidiaries
• Ensure the quality of all programmes and activities through development, implementation
and monitoring of standards, processes and systems,
EIT Requirements: Professional Background of Applicant
Guidelines:
• At least 7 years’ work experience relevant to the position,
• At least 7 years’ experience from the thematic field of Urban Mobility,
• At least 3 years’ international work,
• At least 7 years knowledge and experience from innovation driven mobility,
• Strong integrative leadership skills with the talent to consider diverse opinions and to
develop strategies with shared goals focussed on reaching set goals,
• Capability and ease in working with academic and industrial partners,
• Familiarity with managing activities in the Knowledge Triangle context,
• Mindset and capability to work in an EU regulatory innovation framework,
• Hands on experience from working with national and European authorities, agencies and
financing bodies,
• Proven record on capability, under financial constraints to translate strategic goals into
measurable outcomes (KPIs),
Appointment and salary
We offer a fulltime job with attractive salary and benefits. The aim is to ensure a permanent CEO
of EIT Urban Mobility in place by 30 June 2019.
Location
The role location will be Barcelona (Spain), with regular travel to the CLCs, the 48 partners across
15 EU countries and other stakeholders. The CEO will need to assure a minimum presence at the
head office in Barcelona. Having a permanent residence in Spain is not a requirement.
