In this short paper, (2 and ½ to 3 pages, worth 30 points) you will analyze relationships and/or
power structure in the portions of The Joy Luck Club, the stories we read about Black women in
literature, The stories we read for Latinas in literature that we read for class. You may want to
analyze a combination of points, focus just on mother-daughter relations, intersectionality or in
fact any of the questions from the end of Tyson’s Feminist Criticism.
Refer to and use quotes from Lois Tyson’s: Feminist Criticism, “What is Patriarchy?” By Malise
Rosbech and/or “Mothers and Daughters: Giving the Lie.” You may also use any of the
information from powerpoint presentations on our website.
You do not need to summarize the book or stories, but make sure your paper would make
sense to someone who hasn’t read them. Include a thesis so that I know what you will be
analyzing about the works you chose.
Your body paragraphs,) should include points from the articles, PowerPoints, discussions,
quotes and examples from The Joy Luck Club and an analysis of how the quotes/ examples from
the literature selections illustrate the points made in the articles and discussion.
I need a works cited page for this paper. I do require that you follow the format under MLA
formatting on the website.
