If you have noticed that your computer starts acting up, e.g. you suddenly have
an unfamiliar homepage or your search engine turns to a site you don’t
recognize, it’s high time you check your browser settings to get rid of
unwanted changes.

Uninstall Unwanted Programs
First, before restoring your browser settings you need to remove the apps that
you don’t remember installing. Below are instructions to help you do that. Click

3. Once you’ve got rid of unwanted programs, get your browser’s settings back.
After resetting, bookmarks and passwords won’t change, but you'll need to
customize your startup page, search engine, extensions and browser theme.
For Windows users Chrome suggests using Software Removal Tool. This is a
handy application that detects tricky files on your computer and deletes them.
Plus, you won’t need to go through the above mentioned steps manually since
this app will do it for you.
In the top-right corner of the browser window, click the menu icon with three
horizontal bars.
Choose “Settings”.
At the bottom select “Show advanced settings”.
Under the section "Reset settings” click “Reset settings” button.
In the dialog that appears select Reset.In the dialog that appears select
"Reset".

4. Note: Once Mozilla is reset, your extensions, themes, download history and
toolbars will be removed. Your former Firefox profile can be found on your
desktop in the “Old Firefox Data” folder.
In the upper-right corner of the Firefox window, click the Firefox menu button
with three horizontal bars, then click on the “Help” button featuring a question
mark.
From the “Help” menu, select “Troubleshooting Information” item.
In the upper right corner of the “Troubleshooting Information” window select
“Reset Firefox”.
Click “Reset Firefox” to confirm.
Firefox will close and go back to its default settings. Click “Finish” for Firefox
to open.

In the browser window, select “Safari” from the top menu bar (located next to
the Apple logo).

Click “Reset Safari” at the top of the screen.
In the dialog window, check the boxes next to the items you want to reset (all
recommended).
Hit “Reset” to complete the process.
Safari browser will restart with default settings.
