2. There are many things that you can do this
Summer, but more importantly, there are many
ways you SHOULDNâT waste your Summer. Avoid
these 5 main problems for an enjoyous Summer
break!
The Top 5 Things You
Should Avoid Doing This
Summer...
3. 5. Life? What Life? All I know is
Internet
One thing you MUST avoid this summer
is being sucked into the uncontrollable
addiction, that is the Internet. I know
that the Internet is fun. Whether
roaming through YouTube for a funny
video to show your friends or spending
an entire afternoon on Reddit, it is an
entertainment that offers bundles of fun
for hours. However, make sure you
donât waste all of your summer on it.
Thereâs a whole place to enjoy summer,
thatâs outside! Enjoy the fresh air
outside, not the fresh air on Sims 3!
4. 4. Exercise
Now, I know this is very contradictory to
every doctor, coach, and mom out there, but
donât spend your summer fretting about
exercising. Sure exercise is important and it
is a known fact that it does actually make
you feel better, but if you spend every single
minute of your life worried about how many
miles you ran or whether you biked far
enough, you wonât be spending your time,
and especially your summer, wisely. I
suggest exercising here and there so you feel
better, but donât stress out about what shape
you are in, because all shapes are the same
to me!
5. 3. Getting Sunburned
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate! Wait, I mean: Sunscreen,
Sunscreen, Sunscreen! Thereâs nothing worse than
spending your summer wincing in pain as your sore
and red back is peeling like an onion. Summer is
meant for outside, and you SHOULD go outside, but
make sure you put on ounces on Sunscreen before
you do. According to The Weather Outlook for the
Summer of 2014, this Summer is supposed to be
hotter than normal, especially in June and July. So, if
you are planning on going on outside, and especially
if you are uber fair-skinned like me, remember to
put on Sunscreen! Because thereâs nothing worse
than spending your summer as a tomato!
6. 2. Watching GSN 24/7
Even though the Game Show Network may be a
popular destination for our grandparents and
elderly relatives, it should not be one for us. The
Game Show Network, GSN, is an addicting,
vortex of a television show and if one is not
careful, it could take up oneâs day, and maybe
even whole summer. Sure, it may be hard to say
ânoâ to watching some lady win a red sports
convertible that you wish you could own or it
may be hard to look away from Bob Barkerâs
award-winning smile, but that is a battle we
must fight, because if we are not careful, The
GSN will become our life!
7. 1. Eating Nachos Every Day
Donât do this. I donât care how depressing or
hopeless your life may seem at the moment,
eating Nachos for your whole Summer is not
the glorious cure. If you are in the mood for a
quick snack or yummy lunch, go out on the
town and experience some different and unique
cuisine, not Nachos. You are an energetic
teenager with the capability to venture
downtown and taste and smell delicious foods,
you are not a 40 year old man watching day-
time soap operas, so do not resort to this
gluttoning meal. And to end on a light-hearted
joke, âWhat do you call cheese that isnât yours?â
âNacho Cheese!â
8. The Top 5 Things You
Should Do This SummerâŠ
âWhat did you do this Summer?â If you wish to
avoid answering this commonly asked question
with a stupid answer, and want to answer with one
that conveys how much fun you had, do these 5
things for a stupendous Summer Break!
9. 5. Sleep
Sleep is important and crucial to oneâs health.
According to The National Sleep Foundation,
âTeens need about 9 1/4 hours of sleep each night
to function best (for some, 8 1/2 hours is enough).
Most teens do not get enough sleep â one study
found that only 15% reported sleeping 8 1/2
hours on school nights.â I know it is hard to have a
regular sleep pattern, especially during the
summer when all you want to do is stay up late
and sleep in, and sure thatâs acceptable, but just
make sure you do it with consistency and get
plenty of sleep. Because there is nothing more
wasteful of your summer, than being sleep
deprived!
10. 4. Watch Movies
Movies are a gateway to whole other world. The
tell a story at the ease of a button, and all you
have to do is sit there. What sounds better than
that!? Sure the new movie with a shirtless Zac
Efron may sound appealing, and I am not saying
it isnât, but there are so many other great movies
that you must watch this summer. If you are
confused on where to find a list of such great
movies to watch, you can follow the link:

This website will give you the 100 greatest
movies ever made, so you can enjoy your movie-
filled-summer!
11. 3. Make Money
If there is one thing that goes hand-in-hand with being a
teenager, its spending money. Whether its spending your own,
your momâs, or some cash from a birthday card that you got
from your grandma; spending money is a common key to
having a fun and adventure full Summer. However, the problem
with money is that it eventually runs out. And whatâs worse
than going out to a movie with your friends and then ending up
not having enough for a ticket or a lousy snack? So, to avoid this
uncomfortable occurrence, find a way to earn money this
summer. And the nice thing about earning money is that there
are a ton of ways to do it, and you donât necessarily even need a
job. You could baby-sit, mow a neighborâs lawn, or dog sit for a
weekend, because money is essential to a happy summer! And
contrary to Biggie Smallâs rap lyrics, âMore Money, More
Problemsâ is not true!
12. 2. Hang Out With Friends
Spend your summer enjoying your friends. Hang out with
them, invite them over, or go out with them! Friends are
key to a happy and successful relationships with others
and a happy life. According to PsychologyToday.com,
âThere are many perks of friendship include sharpening
your mind, making you generally happier, knowing
yourself better, and and living a longer and healthier life.â
Even though you may see your friends every day at
school, hanging with them outside of the school setting
gives you the opportunity to become better friends with
them on a whole other level. Hang you with your friends
this summer, do some fun things, and who knows, you
may even gain some new relationships!
13. 1. RELAX!
I donât think I can emphasize this point enough,
RELAX this summer! Enjoy your time off,
because before you know it, your coveted
Summers will vanish. The school year is meant
for stressing out about what you need to do and
what you havenât done, not Summer. According
to HealthEducation.com, âUnmanaged stress
can lead to an increased risk of both mental &
physical problems, such as infection, illness,
diabetes, obesity, and heart disease, as well as
depressive and anxiety disorders.â Take this
summer to put your feet up, smell the roses,
and most importantly, RELAX!
