3. Ympäristömerkintä
Yleiset kemikaaliperiaatteet
• Elinkaariperiaate
• Tiukemmat vaatimukset kuin viranomaisvaatimukset
• Käytetään hyväksi kemikaaliluokituksia
• Tarkastellaan kemikaalien ympäristö- ja terveysvaikutuksia
• Haitallinen kemikaali korvataan vähemmän haitallisella
• Asetetaan vaatimuksia kemikaalikuormitukselle, johon voi
vaikuttaa ympäristömerkinnän keinoin (RPS)
• Varovaisuusperiaate
• Melkein kaikissa kriteereissä on kemikaalivaatimuksia
• Tuotteen toimivuus on tärkeätä

Miksi palonsuoja-aineita
vältetään?
Flame retardant Rule Risk assessment Nordic Ecolabel stipulation
Polybrominated
biphenyls (PBB)
Banned in new electrical and
electronic equipment since July
2006 under RoHS Directive
PBB were the first brominated flame
retardants that proved to be harmful.
The substance has been well studied and as
far as we know PBB is no longer made.
Must not be present
Polybrominated
diphenyl ethers (PBDE)
Banned in new electrical and
electronic equipment since July
2006 under RoHS Directive (since
July 2008 for decaBDE)
pentaBDE: persistent, harmful to health and
environment. POP substance (UNEP)
octaBDE: endocrine disruptor, persistent and
bioaccumulating. POP substance
decaBDE: suspected to be harmful but risk
assessment pending.

environment.
Must not be present (exceptions
for printed circuit boards)

Use permitted Classed as SVHC.
Included on Candidate List.

8. Ympäristömerkintä
Palonsuoja-aineiden vaatimus
• Palonsuoja-aineet, joilla on tunnettuja vaarallisia
ominaisuuksia on kielletty,
• lisäksi on kielletty CMR-aineet (syöpävaaralliset,
mutageeniset ja perimävaaralliset)
• TBBP-A on myös kielletty, mutta piirilevyille on tehty
poikkeus.
9. Ympäristömerkintä
Miksi ftalaatteja vältetään?
• Diethylhexyl phtalate DEHP, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and butyl benzyl
phthalate (BBP) are classified as toxic and specifically toxic to reproduction,
which means that they may impair fertility and may cause harm to the
unborn child.
• DBP is also classified as environmentally harmful and highly toxic to
aquatic organisms. These three most harmful phthalates (DEHP, DBP and
BBP) are totally banned in toys and childcare items.
• Higher Molecular Weight phthalates as DPHP are also used in wires and
cables but are currently not considered to be problematic according to
European Council for Plasticisers and Intermediates (ECPI).
• According to Danish law the phthalates DEHP, DBP, DIBP and BBP must not
be used in products that are used and stored indoor, in basement or
garage. The law was in force in November 2012 with a transition period of
two years. The phthalates DEHP, DBP, DIBP and BBP are not excluded from
any requirements for products sold in Denmark. DEHP, DBP, BBP and DIBP
are classified as toxic to reproduction (Repr. 1B) and are considered to be
endocrine disruptors.
