Tastify: A Coffee App Looking To the Future
of Brewing
Tastify is a new cloud-based app that focuses directly on the communication that happens
between people in the coffee industry. This includes everything from the producers to just those
that truly do love a cup of coffee. The app works by giving the user a chance to document the
taste experience of the coffee they’re given in real time. This information can be used as an easy
reference for the future. The user will write down a bunch of different descriptors to talk about
their cupping experience. What makes the app so great is that it’s simple to use. It’s multi-
colored and has lots of different visuals to notice.
As the user goes through all the various coffees listed, Tastify records each coffee in its database.
These data points can then be found and referred to in a bunch of different ways. Specifically,
importers can take the Tastify app and search through the database to let all the buyers know
exactly what the average rage of cupping scores are for a given cultivar. These importers can
really use this information as a way to communicate to their partners the trends in both quality
and productivity. On the other hand, exporters export their data to a producer’s account to
demonstrate how their coffees ultimately relate to those of other producers that are located either
locally or internationally.
One of the best parts of the Tastify app is that information can be shared. Now of course not all
coffee companies want this information to be shared. If they received negative cupping scores or
impressions, this could ruin their image with coffee drinkers. However, an app like this is
necessary because it really is a game changer. In fact, Tastify draws on cupping data that has
been accumulated over years. Here, there were more than 2,000 cupping sessions with 32,000
cupping scores. That’s a great amount of coffee and information to be had.
Each of these coffee experiences really makes a difference. Plus, as more individuals get the app,
this information will only be shared more for the whole public to see. The main goal of Tastify is
to develop that communication that often lacks in the coffee industry. Tastify is even bilingual,
so that the whole globe can be involved. It has been said multiple times that the more we
communicate with one another, the more we really do understand.
